Passport applications are accepted by appointment only. Application processing times may vary, so please refer to the U.S. Department of State website for the most up-to-date information.

Passport Processing Times:

  • Routine: 4-6 weeks*
  • Expedited: 2-3 weeks*

*Processing times only reflect the time your application is with a passport agency or center. It may take 1-2 weeks for your application to arrive before processing begins.

When to Schedule a Passport Application Appointment

You should apply in person and schedule an appointment if any of the following apply:

  • You have never been issued a U.S. passport
  • Your previous passport was issued when you were under age 16
  • Your most recent passport was issued more than 15 years ago
  • Your passport was lost or stolen

When to Renew Your Passport

If your passport was issued when you were age 16 or older and has been expired for less than 5 years, you may be eligible to renew it online or by mail through the U.S. Department of State's Passport Renewal Page.

For 1-2 day delivery after the passport is processed at the US Department of State, pay $21.36. Include this fee with your check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State. Only applies to mailing addresses within the United States. Not valid for passport cards.
