West Jordan Senior Center started in 1991 in a small house located next to the Sugar Factory. The seniors of West Jordan out grew the house and moved to an old church. The new center was built in 2000 and is located on the same property as the small house. According to the census, West Jordan City has a population over 108,000, making it the 4th most populous city in the state and one of the fastest growing cities in Utah.
The Center offers a wide range of programs. We consider the center a place where participants can be involved in an abundance of classes and special activities. Classes are as diverse as Spanish, Vital Aging, and Kumihimo. Our participants do many Humanitarian Projects throughout the year to help the community. For those wanting to explore their creative side, the center offers opportunities in arts and crafts, such as, Ceramics, Oil Painting, Crochet, Wood Carving, Lapidary, Swedish Weaving, and Quilting. We are proud of our health and exercise programs which include: Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program, Tai Chi Advanced, Low Impact Exercise, Gentle Yoga and Drums Alive, U of U Strength, as well as access to exercise equipment. The participants that attend the center also enjoy games, such as: Wii Bowling, Bridge, Mexican Train, Bingo and Billiards to name a few.
