Visit a Prisoner
Effective April 1, 2026 walk-in personal visits will be welcomed, although prescheduled visits are encouraged. Visits can be pre-scheduled up to six (6) days in advance by calling 385-468-8400.
Please note: Pre-scheduled visits will take precedence over walk-in visits.
Visiting Guidelines:
- Each prisoner (not on disciplinary restriction or in medical quarantine) will be allowed:
- Two (2) visits per week
- One (1) clergy visit per week
- Visitor limits:
- Metro Jail: Three (3) visitors allowed
- Oxbow Jail: Two (2) visitors allowed
- Infants under one (1) year of age will not count toward the visitor limit
- Check-in requirements:
- Visitors must be present and checked in at least 30 minutes prior to the visit start time
- Visitors will not be allowed into the visiting lobby more than 45 minutes prior to the visit start time
- Visitors arriving after the cutoff time will not be allowed to visit but may be added to the next available time slot if space is available
- Identification requirements:
- All visitors 16 years of age or older must present a valid government-issued ID
(Driver’s License, State ID, Passport, or Consulate Card) - School IDs will not be accepted
- Driving Privilege Cards will not be accepted
- All visitors 16 years of age or older must present a valid government-issued ID
- Minor visitation:
- If a minor is visiting a parent, they must be accompanied by an adult (18+)
- Any minor (under 18) must be accompanied by a parent, step-parent, or legal guardian
- Proof of legal guardianship may be required.
- Children under 16 may not be left unattended

- Visiting Hours
- Visiting hours are 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
- Each visit lasts 30 minutes
- Visits are scheduled at the top of each hour only
- No visiting during meal times:
- 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
- 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
If staff directs visitors to leave before the scheduled end of the visit, visitors must exit the visiting area immediately.
Visiting Rules:
- Please leave all personal belongings in your vehicle, except for your identification.
- Lockers are available if you do not have a secure place to store your belongings while you visit.
- The following items are not allowed in the facility:
- Cell phones
- Coats, jackets, or hats
- Electronic devices
- Food or drinks
- Knives
- Lighters, cigarettes, or open flames
- Pens or pencils
- Staples or paperclips
- Wallets or keys
- Weapons or ammunition of any kind
- No pets allowed. Service dogs trained to perform a task for a person with a disability are permitted. Comfort and/or emotional support animals are not considered service animals and are not recognized under the ADA.
- Additional Information:
- A Nessel Lactation Pod is available in the Metro lobby for nursing mothers
- Prisoner workers (kitchen, server, etc.) will not be allowed visits during their scheduled work hours
- The prisoner is responsible for notifying visitors of housing location changes, work assignments, and program times
- There may be times when a prisoner is unavailable or refuses a visit
- Visits may be delayed or canceled due to facility incidents or visiting capacity limits
- Visitors experiencing flu-like symptoms are asked to refrain from visiting
