Adaptive Aquatics

Adaptive aquatics are swim lessons that are specifically for swimmers who have disabilities. We teach swimming skills and water safety in a fun and social environment. Our instructors are highly trained and cannot wait to make your swimmer confident in the water.

Adaptive Swim Club

Adaptive Swim Club is for adults and youth with physical, visual, developmental or intellectual disabilities who are ages 15 and older.

An adaptive aquatics instructor will lead the group through drills, stroke refinement, building endurance, skills to increase lifelong health and wellness, and the opportunity to engage in social interactions with peers.

This program does have the opportunity to swim competitively. Assessment is required prior to registering for this program.

  • Ages: 15+
  • 4 week sessions
  • 60 – 90 minute lessons
  • 6:1 student to coach ratio
  • Adaptive Swim Club swimmers should be able to swim the length of the pool with minimal assistance/prompting

Inclusion Swim Lessons provide additional support to those with disabilities wanting to participate in group swimming lessons. Prior to registering for lessons, inform the Aquatic Coordinator that you would like to request inclusion services or contact Rebecca Barley.

Otters Swim Club

Otters Swim Club is designed to boost swimmer confidence and skill development. Otters is specifically designed for children and teens ages 3 and up who have intellectual disabilities, who may have a hard time learning in a traditional swim lesson setting. Otters has 4 different levels: Water Orientation, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. These levels focus on swimming fundamentals, water safety, and social skills. This is a group lesson environment with a lower student to teacher ratio than traditional group lessons. An assessment is required prior to registering. Please see the center you’re interested in to schedule this assessment. Otters and all levels are not offered at every center.

Water Polo

Inner Tube Water Polo clinic will focus on the basics of the game while teaching the valuable aspects of sportsmanship and teamwork in a sensory-based environment. In order to participate, all participants must be able to swim one full length of the pool without assistance (does not need to be a recognizable stroke) or be enrolled in our Advanced Otters or Adaptive Swim Club programs. No water polo skills are necessary.
