Fireworks and Fire Danger

This is shaping up to be a dangerous wildfire season. Fires are spreading faster and burning hotter than ever — and fireworks are one of the leading causes. Protecting our communities is a shared responsibility.

The Governor has banned all fireworks statewide through at least July 5, 2026. That means no fireworks of any kind are allowed for the Fourth of July this year, no matter where you live.

After the ban lifts, Utah law allows fireworks only during specific windows. If you live in a restricted area, fireworks are never allowed — even during those dates.

Know the rules where you live. Similarly, we are under Stage 2 Fire restrictions which means no open flames of any kind are allowed on federal, state, or unincorporated land. Each city in Salt Lake County sets its own restrictions. And as of now, no city has elected to allow fireworks during the restriction period.

Check the map below or contact your local city for details.

More than half of Utah's wildfires are caused by people. Following the rules and using fireworks responsibly protects lives, homes, and the open spaces we all share.
