Records Available

Salt Lake County vital records offices have the following records available:

Birth Certificates

A baby in a white robe.

For births that occurred anywhere in Utah.

You may order your own birth certificate or a birth certificate for your (current) spouse, your parent, your grandparent, your child, or your grandchild.

Birth certificates may be ordered by the general public 100 years or more after the date of birth.

Death Certificates

For deaths that occurred anywhere in Utah.

You may order a death certificate for your (most recent) spouse, your parent, your grandparent, your child, or your grandchild.

Death certificates may be ordered by the general public 50 years or more after the date of birth.

Marriage/Divorce Abstracts

Abstracts of marriage licenses and divorce records for anywhere in Utah from 1978 to 2010.

Marriage and divorce records are available to the general public 75 years after the marriage or divorce.

Note that abstracts are certified copies but have limited information.

To obtain a full, certified copy of a Utah marriage license, contact the county clerk's office (such as the Salt Lake County Clerk) in the county where the initial application was submitted. Certified divorce decrees are available at the Utah District Court where the divorce was granted.
