Presentence Reports are conducted virtual, in person, or at the SLCO jail and administered by a CJS Case Manager. They include LSCMI results as well as background and personal information about a defendant to assist the judge in determining an appropriate sentence.
A CJS Case Manager will meet with the client and complete an interview to obtain information. Information gathered may include but is not limited to the following: criminal history, education/employment history, mental health history, substance use history, community support, etc. It is possible that the case manager will need to reach out to request information from other agencies, if so, they will ask you to agree to a release of information.
In addition to gathering background information, the client will also be given the LSCMI Assessment to determine the client's criminogenic need areas.
Following the completion of the interview, the CJS case manager will compile the information into a report which is submitted to the judge, prosecutor, and defense attorney. The judge will ultimately determine your sentence.
