Natalie Pinkney is a dedicated champion for families, opportunity, and innovative governance in Salt Lake County. With a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Marquette University and a Master's in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Utah, Natalie has built a career rooted in service, resilience, and transformative leadership.

As the first Black woman and the first Black person elected county-wide to the Salt Lake County Council, Natalie's historic election underscores her commitment to impactful governance that uplifts every community. Her priorities center on families—focusing on housing, homelessness, childcare, and financial empowerment—ensuring everyone has access to the opportunities and support that shaped her journey.

Natalie's public service journey began on the South Salt Lake City Council, where she served for five years, including as Vice Chair. During her tenure, she spearheaded initiatives like the city-wide glass recycling program, establishing the Financial Empowerment Center and the creation of a Civilian Review Board. A fierce advocate for the arts, she also served on the South Salt Lake Arts Council, championing cultural expression and community engagement. Her efforts earned her accolades such as the South Salt Lake City Council Champion Award, the Democratic Believer Award, and the Malcolm X Award for Social Justice.

Natalie has served on several boards and commissions, including the Salt Lake County Behavioral Health Advisory Board, the Mosquito Abatement Committee, and the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center. She currently serves on the Clark Planetarium Board, Library Board, Emergency Management Advisory Commission, and the Council of Governments Board, dedicating her time to fostering community growth and collaboration.

Outside of public office, Natalie is the publisher of Priestess Magazine. She and her husband, along with their beloved cats, live in the Riverfront neighborhood of South Salt Lake.
