Dea Theodore, Chair

Dea Theodore has served on the Salt Lake County Council since 2021 and was recently re-elected for a second term. She currently serves as Chair of the Salt Lake County Council, where she remains a strong advocate for public safety, community well-being, and a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars.
Dea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Utah and has served on multiple boards, including the Unified Fire Authority, Salt Lake Valley Law Enforcement Service Area, Criminal Justice Advisory Council, and the Salt Lake County Animal Services Advisory Board. She is deeply committed to supporting law enforcement, advocating for senior citizens, and addressing mental health challenges in the community.
She has spearheaded initiatives focused on water conservation, fire mitigation, and preserving open space in the Cottonwood Canyons, ensuring a balanced approach to environmental stewardship and community needs.
Dea’s district includes the Cottonwood Canyons, a world-renowned destination for outdoor recreation. Recognizing the critical role of Search and Rescue in keeping visitors safe, she has made it her mission to replace the aging and inadequate Search and Rescue facility. Dea has been at the forefront of this effort, advocating for a modern, well-equipped building to better support the dedicated volunteers who risk their lives to protect others.
Councilmember Theodore has resided in Sandy for 19 years where her two teenage children attend Canyons School District. She loves exploring her district’s beautiful trails and can often be found skiing down the slopes, enjoying the outdoor recreation that makes her community so special.
