Carlos Moreno
Carlos A. Moreno is a former political asylee from the socialist regime of Venezuela, where he was publicly charged with treason and conspiracy on national television by the President of the Venezuelan Parliament. A 2009 graduate of Rafael Urdaneta University’s Law School, he holds a specialization in Venezuelan Labor Law from the University of Zulia. In December 2009, Carlos immigrated to the United States as an international student, pursuing higher education at Salt Lake Community College (SLCC). There, he earned associate degrees in Political Science and Government as well as Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
Carlos made history as the first Latino and immigrant student body president at SLCC, prompting the Utah Board of Regents to revise its bylaws, which had previously restricted the position to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. He served two terms as student body president and was also elected Vice President of the Utah Student Association. Now a proud small business owner in West Jordan, Utah, Carlos has a deep love for America and its ideals of freedom and opportunity. He firmly believes in the power and value of family as the cornerstone of society. Carlos is married to Norbelys Moreno, and together they have three sons: Carlos Isaías, Carlos Rodrigo, and Carlos Luciano.
