Salt Lake County First County Ledger

History Note: Ledgers appear to have been kept by the Treasurer, a position appointed by the Probate Court starting in 1852. The position of Treasurer was held by David Fulmer and Thomas Rhoades during the years covered by the ledger. This General Ledger book was created in 1852 and is the first General Ledger book for the County. The Ledger includes a list of expenses divided by type. For example, the expenses listed under Criminal Prosecutions include expenses for grand jurors, service as prosecuting attorney, witnesses, clerks, and bailiffs. The Ledger also contains: Paupers, Elections, Criminal Prosecutions, Treasurer, County Court Expenses, service as Commissioner and Supervisor, Roads, Bridges, Embankments, and Ditches.
